PAINTING & DRAWING BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE
Ten Thursdays, March 25 to May 27
Time: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Instructor: Lena Shiffman
Using a variety of subject matter, including still life subjects, photographs, and landscape, the instructor works with students to improve their drawing and painting skills. Students may work in charcoal, pastels, oil, acrylic, or watercolor paints. Students supply their own materials. Beginners, please bring charcoal pencils, an eraser, and a newsprint pad to the first class. Material list will be supplied at the first class.

Bucks County Art Workshops will present a John Ennis Three Day Workshop on Portrait Painting. March 19-21 Perkasie, PA.

Learn techniques for portrait painting!

This class is open to students with some experience in oil painting and figure drawing. Working from a live model, students will learn monochome, alla prima, and a value-based approach to painting the head in oil, mixing flesh-tones and distinctive brushwork.

Class will include lectures and demonstrations by the instructor, instructions on arranging a portrait palette, and individual critiques.

Easels, canvas, oil paints and mediums will be provided. Students must bring bristle brushes.

Location: Bucks County Art Workshops is a beautiful bed & breakfast farm in the heart of Bucks County, PA that hosts art workshops in a generous, state-of-the-art studio. The basic tuition for the workshop is $355, plus a $45 materials fee, and a $65 model fee. Register here.

The Bucks County Art Workshops will start its 2010 season with the Bucks County Artist series starting on weekends in March. John Murdoch will be teaching the figure in oil, John Ennis will be teaching the portrait in oil, Dot Bunn will be teaching a studio landscape course, and in April, Susan Ketcham, PSA will teach a studio still life class in pastel.
