Artsbridge Update

Prallsville Mill in Stockton, NJ

Artsbridge at Prallsville Mills

This year’s 9th national juried show at Prallsville Mills is a strong mixture of national and local talents that Artsbridge is proud to present. This year’s juror, Laura Galvanek, the Curator of Exhibitions at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ, diligently sifted through 766 submitted entries and chose 92 pieces for the show. Unfortunately, an emergency prevented the second juror, Keary Rosen, from attending jury day.

The exhibitions committee is especially pleased about the diversity of media represented in this year’s show: film stills, photography, collage, oils, acrylics, watercolor, serigraphs, handmade paper, monotypes, encaustic, mixed media, and fiber, as well as various sculpture materials, ranging from steel to glass, clay to bronze, wood to found objects.

The show’s 1st Prize was awarded to Robert Santerre, who will bring his seven-foot-tall sculpture, entitled “Freedom!,” down to the Mills from Arrowsic, Maine. 2nd Prize went to Matthew Van Horn for his mixed media sculpture “Yogurt.” Congratulations to our 33 Artsbridge members represented in the show! And a special congratulations to our Artbridge prize winners: W. Carl Burger was awarded 3rd Prize, Georgene Y. Taylor received 4th Prize. An award for Best Use of Material went to Bob Justin. The Photography Award went to Joanne M. Nesotor. Gail Gardella and David McCaig both received Honorable Mentions.

We are proud to say that 14 states are represented in this year’s show. We received submissions from 32 states, one of them Hawai! 272 artists (124 of them Artsbridge members) submitted the 766 slide entries. 77 artists were selected to exhibit. Of that, 33 are Artsbridge members and 44 non-members. Of 14 prizes awarded, 6 are going to Artsbridge members!

A special thank you to all the volunteers who so generously dedicated their time and effort into making this show a success. It has been a joy to work with people who are genuinely committed to art and this community.

A show like this is not possible without the contributions of all Artsbridge members.

Thank you all!
